To provide a long-term total return of capital, primarily through capital appreciation.
The Fund aims to approximate the total return of the Cap-Based Portfolio 10 Index published by the University of Chicago's Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP) over long time periods. For investment purposes, "ultra-small companies" are defined as those companies that have a market capitalization the size of the smallest 10% of companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange, or companies with capitalizations that fall within the range of companies included in the CRSP 10 Index. Bridgeway seeks to minimize the distribution of capital gains, operating within the constraints of the investment objective and ultra-small company focus by offsetting capital gains with capital losses.

The Morningstar Rating™ for funds, or "star rating," is calculated for managed products (including mutual funds, variable annuity and variable life subaccounts, exchange-traded funds, closed-end funds, and separate accounts) with at least a three-year history. Exchange-traded funds and open-ended mutual funds are considered a single population for comparative purposes. It is calculated based on a Morningstar Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for variation in a managed product's monthly excess performance, placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10% of products in each product category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars, and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. The Overall Morningstar Rating for a managed product is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five-, and 10-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating metrics. The weights are: 100% three-year rating for 36–59 months of total returns, 60% five-year rating/40% three-year rating for 60–119 months of total returns, and 50% 10-year rating/30% five-year rating/20% three-year rating for 120 or more months of total returns. While the 10-year overall star rating formula seems to give the most weight to the 10-year period, the most recent three-year period actually has the greatest impact because it is included in all three rating periods. Bridgeway Ultra-Small Company Market Fund was rated against the following number of US-domiciled small-cap blend funds over the following time periods: 387 funds over the last three years, 356 funds over the last five years, and 254 funds over the last ten years. With respect to these small value funds, Bridgeway Ultra-Small Company Market Fund received a Morningstar Rating of three stars, three stars, and four stars for the three-, five-, and ten-year periods respectively.
Morningstar rankings are based on a fund's average annual total return relative to all funds in the same Morningstar category. Fund performance used within the rankings, reflects certain fee waivers, without which, returns and Morningstar rankings would have been lower.

Total return figures include the reinvestment of dividends and capital gains. Some of the fees were waived or expenses reimbursed; returns would have been lower had this not been the case. Returns do not reflect the taxes that a shareholder who owned this Fund in a taxable account would pay on Fund distributions or on the redemption of Fund shares.
The Fund is subject to very high, above market risk (volatility) and is not an appropriate investment for short-term investors. In addition, market turbulence and reduced liquidity in the markets may negatively affect many issuers, which could adversely affect the Funds. Investments in ultra-small companies generally carry greater risk than is customarily associated with larger companies and even "small companies" for various reasons such as narrower markets (fewer investors), limited financial resources, and greater trading difficulty.
The CRSP Cap-Based Portfolio10 Index (CRSP 10 Index) is an unmanaged index of roughly 1,000 ultra-small companies compiled by the Center for Research in Security Prices. The Russell 2000® Index is an unmanaged, market value-weighted index, which measures performance of the 2,000 companies that are between the 1,000th and 3,000th largest in the market. The Russell Microcap® Index measures the performance of microcap stocks, which make up less than 3% of the US equity market (by market cap) and consist of the smallest 1,000 securities in the Russell 2000® Index, plus the next smallest eligible securities by market cap, with dividends reinvested. It is not possible to invest directly in an index.
Holdings and sector weightings are subject to change without notice. Percentages may not total 100 due to rounding. Price-to-earnings ratios, price-to-book ratios, price-to-cash flow ratios, and price-to-sales ratios all express the value of a stock's most recent closing price as divided by the underlying company's earnings per share, book value per share, cash flow per share, or revenues per share (respectively), all as computed over the previous 12 months. Beta is a quantitative measure of the volatility of the Fund relative to the CRSP 10 Index over the past three years. A beta above one is more volatile than the overall market, while a beta below one is less volatile.
